Spy Hunter

Spy Hunter is a vertical scrolling action/driving game with the player in the role of a spy driving an armed sportscar. The object of the game is to travel the freeway destroying as many enemy vehicles as possible while protecting civilian vehicles. The game uses top-down perspective.

The game begins with the player driving the fictitious G-6155 Interceptor. Various enemy vehicles try to destroy the player's car or to force it off the road, including a helicopter that drops bombs from overhead. A counter increments the score while the car is moving and on the road. Additional points are earned destroying enemy vehicles using weapons or by forcing them off the road. After an initial lead-in time during which the player has an unlimited supply of cars, the player must earn extra cars by obtaining high scores. Destroying non-enemy cars halts the score counter for a short while, and no points are scored whenever the player's car is off the road. The car can be destroyed by a hard collision with another vehicle or if it is hit by an enemy weapon, including the craters blasted into the road by the helicopter's bombs.

Following periodic forks in the road, players can enter a new 'territory' with different terrain and/or weather conditions. Players can also upgrade the car's standard machine guns by adding other weapons by entering the Weapons Van, which appears in each new territory and can be periodically summoned by pressing the blinking 'Weapons Van' button. Three special weapons are available: oil slicks, smoke screens, and surface-to-air missiles. Each has limited ammo and are lost if the player's car is destroyed. The game's dashboard shows which weapons are available, when lit.

It is possible for the player to convert the car into a go-fast boat for brief periods by driving through a special boathouse which appears infrequently at the side of the road after which the player is attacked by two different enemy boats.

Spy Hunter è un gioco di azione / guida a scorrimento verticale con il giocatore nel ruolo di spia che guida un'auto sportiva armata. Lo scopo del gioco è quello di percorrere la superstrada distruggendo quanti più veicoli nemici possibile, proteggendo allo stesso tempo i veicoli civili. Il gioco utilizza la prospettiva dall'alto in basso.

   Il gioco inizia con il giocatore che guida il fittizio Interceptor G-6155. Vari veicoli nemici cercano di distruggere l'auto del giocatore o di costringerlo fuori strada, incluso un elicottero che fa cadere le bombe dall'alto. Un contatore incrementa il punteggio mentre l'auto è in movimento e sulla strada. Ulteriori punti si guadagnano distruggendo veicoli nemici usando armi o costringendoli fuori strada. Dopo un tempo di anticipo iniziale durante il quale il giocatore ha una scorta illimitata di auto, il giocatore deve guadagnare auto extra ottenendo punteggi più alti. Distruggere le auto non nemiche ferma il conto alla rovescia per un breve periodo, e nessun punto viene segnato quando la macchina del giocatore è fuori strada. L'auto può essere distrutta da una forte collisione con un altro veicolo o se viene colpita da un'arma nemica, compresi i crateri fatti esplodere sulla strada dalle bombe dell'elicottero.

   Seguendo le forche periodiche sulla strada, i giocatori possono entrare in un nuovo "territorio" con differenti condizioni del terreno e / o meteorologiche. I giocatori possono anche aggiornare le mitragliatrici standard dell'auto aggiungendo altre armi inserendo il Weapons Van, che appare in ogni nuovo territorio e può essere evocato periodicamente premendo il pulsante lampeggiante 'Weapons Van'. Sono disponibili tre armi speciali: slick di petrolio, schermi antifumo e missili terra-aria. Ognuno ha munizioni limitate e sono persi se l'auto del giocatore viene distrutta. La dashboard del gioco mostra quali armi sono disponibili, quando accese.

   È possibile per il giocatore convertire l'auto in una barca veloce per brevi periodi guidando attraverso una darsena speciale che appare di rado sul lato della strada dopo il quale il giocatore viene attaccato da due diverse barche nemiche.
